Osteopathy for Children

Osteopathy for Children:

Children and Adolescence:

Osteopathy is a manual therapy modality that can be used in the management and support of some conditions within childhood and adolescence.

All of our Osteopath's are trained in treating patients who are older than 5 years of age. Our Osteopath's have experience in assessing children over the age of 5, into adolescence and adulthood.

Common reasons why children and teenagers may seek Osteopathic support include:

  • Sporting Injuries

  • Ergonomic advice while studying

  • Posture or standing posture assessments.

  • Movement asymmetries

  • Joint pain; including heel pain and knee pain.

Infants and Babies:

In terms of young babies and infants, our senior Osteopath, Julia Redfern has further training and experience treating children younger than 5 years of age. Dr Julia Redfern (Osteopath) graduated from Victoria University in 2010 after completing her Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy). Dr Julia Redfern is our Infant & Children Osteopath at Valued Health Osteopathy.

Working as an Osteopath with babies and children is Julia’s passion. She has completed extensive postgraduate study in order to provide Osteopathic care to children and infants. Her additional post graduate study includes Osteopathic Obstetric care, Paediatric considerations and pre & post natal pilates.

Julia has extensive experience assisting with tongue and lip tie aftercare following frenectomy, working alongside dental and lactation consultant colleagues.
