My Story
Dr. Kate Ellett (Osteopath) graduated from Victoria University in 2010 after completing her Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy). Kate enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions across the lifespan. Kate has a particular interest in Women's health, having completed extensive further study in Pelvic Health and Pregnancy. Kate’s interest in treating women began early in her Osteopathic career following the completion of her Masters Research where she investigated the effect of Osteopathic treatment on period pain and it has only grown since.
Kate places great importance in educating patients in causative behaviours, aggravating factors and self management strategies to complement her Osteopathic treatment. When treating patients, Kate first performs a thorough examination to determine the likely cause of symptoms, then proceeds with a variety of musculoskeletal techniques with the aim of reducing pain and improving function. Kate has also performed further training in Clinical Pilates and as such brings this experience into her consultations. Kate frequently utilises this training in her treatment and management of low back pain, postural complaints and pre/ post pregnancy.
Kate is also a mother of three beautiful children and has been so fortunate to grow and nurture these three little humans, however, there have been some bumps in the road during and following her pregnancies. This personal experience solidified her passion and desire to support women through their own lives and stories – be it through pregnancy, postpartum or pelvic pain/ health presentations.
Kate now has extensive further training in the assessment and treatment of Pelvic Health presentations, including urinary incontinence, prolapse, dyspareunia, pelvic pain, birth preparation and post natal support. Kate is able to incorporate internal assessment and treatment techniques, where deemed appropriate and necessary. .
When not in the clinic, Kate is attempting (sometimes failing) to keep up with her three young children and is happiest when this is done outside, with a good coffee in hand.
